Historical conflicts between the US and Cuba span six decades and include Cuban Revolution, Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

In a wide-ranging press gaggle, President Donald Trump spoke about the ongoing tensions with Iran and said the U.S. could engage in a "friendly takeover" of Cuba. Trump also lamented that he didn't like seeing former President Bill Clinton deposed in Congress' Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

The energy shortage was an overwhelming problem even before Mr Trump’s attention turned to Cuba. His threat to impose tariffs on any country which supplies Cuba with oil has become an effective embargo.

Cuba said on Thursday (February 26) that the United States is willing to cooperate following what the government in Havana described as an attack by heavily armed Cuban nationals who tried to infiltrate the country by speedboat.

Four armed Cubans aboard a Florida-based speedboat died in a gunfight with Cuban border troops on Wednesday, officials said.
